![]() ![]() Like Pentatone, Channel Classics is another consistently excellent label, and the discs by Rachel Podger or Pieter Wispelwey may well be the best of a very good catalogue. Just about anything by Pentatone: the Julia Fischer discs seem to be very well liked. ![]() Tchaikovsky/Saint-Saens/Bruch - Pieter Wispelwey/Daniel Sepec/Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen - Channel Classics ![]() Music For Organ, Brass and Timpani - Anthony Newman/Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble/Duncan Patton - Sonoma Records 9 & 25 - Alfred Brendel/Charles Mackerras/Scottich Chamber Orchestra - Philips Classics 1 - Michael Tilson Thomas/SF Symphony - SFS Media 2 - Fischer/Budapest Festival Orchestra - Channel Classics 4 - Fischer/Budapest Festival Orchestra - Channel Classics Many of these have been reviewed here on Hi-Res Edition, where we seek out the best recording, mixing, and mastering of audio for Blu-ray, DVD-Audio, Super Audio, and lossless file formats. 9 & 8 - Fischer/Budapest Festival Orchestra - Philips Classics Linked below is a complete list of high resolution and surround sound music releases, organized by year. Who knows But I do know that these surround sound Blu-ray audio discs deliver a music experience unlike anything most consumers have ever heard. There are three versions: a plain yellow cover with blue text a green cover with the SACD logo on it (which was part of the background to the hand-outs Philips made on SACD) and a picture of the city of Budapest. The disc was given away with early Philips SACD players, and also given away at some hi-fi/pro audio shows. The audience is made up of friends and sponsors of the orchestra, and there was a cake eating competition during one of the Strauss pieces, resulting in much sound in the hall of people moving around, all of which is faithfully captured on the M-ch recording (done by the team from Polyhymnia). The orchestra is joined by a children's choir (which enters from the rear and walks down the sides of the hall) for the Kodaly pieces, and replaces the first violinist for the Sarasate with a real Gypsy fiddle player. Everything you hear is how it was performed. Everything was recorded live on the night of Jand, since it was a one-off event, there are no edits. With an all-star lineup of artists including Stevie Wonder, Take 6, Tom Scott, Gary Burton and Plas Johnson returning for the Pink Panther, Ultimate Mancini is just that: the ultimate version of Mancini’s music, in performance, audio quality and a wonderful surround sound mix. It's a variety of pieces by Dvorak, Kodaly, Liszt, Sarasate, Okros (a cimbalom improvisation based on melodies by Bach and Liszt), Ravel and Strauss. It is a disc produced by Philips Electronics called Ivan Fischer Presents His Budapest Festival Orchestra. One of the very best M-ch classical recordings, for giving the you-are-there feeling, is sadly not available as a commerical release. Click to expand.I can only advise on SACDs, so here goes. ![]()
